Artwork of the Heavenly Father by Cecil Kim, s.F.m. Lay Missioner
Pray on Saturdays & Sundays
In this Part I, pray the 5 Merciful Mysteries of God the Father on Saturdays and Sundays and in Part II, pray the 5 Guardian Mysteries of Saint Joseph on Mondays thru Fridays. The Rosary of the Holy Fathers is said for 33 days, one for each year of the Lord’s life with one intention. It is especially desirable to be prayed by men who wish to be better fathers, for mothers who want better relationships with their children, spouses who desire stronger and more spiritual relationships with each other and for children of all ages who need psychological healing with a father, mother or other family member. The Heavenly Father longs to hear our prayers and Saint Joseph, the guardian father of Jesus and protector of the Holy Family wishes to intercede for your family’s intentions. Through the merciful Heart of Christ, our Fathers in heaven will hear you.
How to Pray …
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross and recite the Apostles Creed.
2. Recite one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.
3. Offer the rosary for the special intention as said M-F in #3 of the 5 Guardian Mysteries.
4. Leader Announce: “The 5 Merciful Mysteries of God the Father. The first Mystery, God creates mankind in His own image.”
5. Recite: “Glory to God in the highest / and peace to His people on earth.”
6. On each bead of the decade pray: “Our Father...”
7. On single beads, pray one Glory Be, announce the mystery and then recite, “Glory to God in the highest / and peace to His people on earth.”
8. Conclude: “For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.”
9. Final prayer: [Leader] “Let us pray… / O Heavenly Father in union with the most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may yours and Saint Joseph’s paternal hearts of mercy inspire fathers everywhere and all of us to be protectors and guides for all of your lost, abandoned and lonely children living in the world today, especially the poor and the homeless. May I both imitate the mysteries of the Rosary of the Holy Fathers and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord, Amen.”
10. Recite the litany: [Leader] “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, / I give you my heart and my soul. [Leader] Jesus, Mary and Joseph, / grant me a heart of compassion, forgiveness and charity toward others. [Leader] Jesus, Mary and Joseph, / assist me in my last agony. [Leader] Jesus, Mary and Joseph, / may I rest in peace with you. Amen. (Make the Sign of the Cross) Amen.”
The 5 Merciful Mysteries of God the Father
1. God creates mankind in His own image. (Gn. 1:27)
2. God stops Abraham’s sacrifice of his only son Isaac. (Gn. 22:12)
3. The Father sends us Jesus His only Son saying, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” (Mt. 3:17)
4. Jesus reveals His merciful and compassionate Father in the parable of the prodigal son. (Lk. 15:11-32)
5. God the Father sacrifices His only Son on Calvary and through Him adopts us as His children(Rm.8:14-17, Gl.4:4-7, Ep.1:3-7)
Note: The marks / and [ ] are to be used when praying with a rosary leader in two choirs.

Here in Part II are the 5 Guardian Mysteries of Saint Joseph, said on Mondays thru Fridays
Devotion to Saint Joseph can be traced as far back as A.D. 50 where it is said this prayer of our decade originates. In 1505 devotion to Saint Joseph was encouraged by the Pope Julius II, especially giving the prayer to soldiers going into battle. Pray the 5 Guardian Mysteries of Saint Joseph once a day for 33 consecutive days (except Saturdays and Sundays when the 5 Merciful Mysteries of God the Father is said), one for each year of the Lord’s life with one intention. Saint Francis de Sales said of Saint Joseph that he was part of “a trinity on earth that represents in some way the most Holy Trinity; Mary, Jesus and Joseph, and Joseph, Jesus and Mary: a trinity marvelously estimable and worthy of being honored.”
How to Pray …
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross and recite the Apostles Creed.
2. Recite one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.
3. Offer the rosary for a special intention by reciting this prayer: Oh Saint Joseph, guardian father and hands of Christ when he was a child, your protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires and especially the intention of this rosary [state the same intention for 33 days].
4. Leader Announce: “The 5 Guardian Mysteries of Saint Joseph. The first Guardian Mystery, Mary and Joseph are betrothed.”
5. Recite the Our Father.
6. On each bead of the decade pray: “O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, / I place in you all my interests and desires.”
7. On single beads, pray one Glory Be, announce the mystery and recite the Our Father.
8. Conclude at the very end with one Glory Be.
The 5 Guardian Mysteries of Saint Joseph
1. Mary and Joseph are betrothed. (Lk. 1:27 / Mk. 1:18)
2. An angel reveals the name of the Lord to Joseph. (Mt. 1:21)
3. The protection of the Holy Family in finding a manger and fleeing Bethlehem for Egypt. (Mt. 2:13)
4. Joseph teaches the Lord the life and work of a carpenter. (Mk. 6:3)
5. The peaceful death of St. Joseph.
