On September 4, 2019, John Modler departed the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Servants of the Father of Mercy that serve 80,000 + homeless in the region. Over his previous ten-day visit, he had difficulty completing normal every-day tasks, exhibited high talkative and grandiose verbal skills and had little to no ability to take action. He spent most of the time in his bedroom. He urinated atop 4 x 4 foot area of a brand new guest room pillowtop mattress before departing. Stating at the train station before dropoff, "I cleaned my room already."
(Lastly, the State of Illinois has a 2008 record of criminal mischief in which John Modler pleaded guilty to a $50 offense and was served probation.)
John Modler, during his ten-day visit, spent most of the hours on his computer and telephone. He consumed a pot of coffee per morning and paced frequently.
Fraudulently, he promised for many weeks thousands of dollars in homeless children's aid coming from himself, his uncle, Monsignor Steffen and his brother.
Lastly, before departing, he urinated over the top and side of his queen bed mattress. Then he asked for no one to clean his room because he "did it already". That comment delayed the normal urgency for housekeeping.
Two-days later on a regular cleaning schedule, it was discovered he did not clean his room, but left beer cans throughout and had viciously urinated on a brand-new bed after receiving 10 days of free meals and accommodations.
John Modler has left our ministry years of threatening voicemail messages against Christians, the Catholic Church and the LBGQT communities all of which he grooms and terrorizes. Los Angeles County Sheriff law enforcement since September 5, 2020 have considered the messages terroristic threats, opened a file and forwarded the messages and his file to the FBI for investigation as national hate crimes.
As recent as October 23, 2021, July 12/14, 2021 and May 3, 2021 church ministries have called in from Chicago, IL reporting that John Modler continues to this very day using email, voicemail and phone calls for his dangerous, manipulative, grooming behavior against them and their church communities.
